Editing

professional editing service

Editing is a great way to maximise the quality of your written English documents. A professional editing service can quickly bring out the best in what you have written.

Do I need editing or proofreading?

Compared to proofreading, if you select the editing service around twice as much time will be spent on your document. Editing does not just remove all the errors on the surface but goes far deeper. Proofreading considers the words/ the language and individual sentences but editing considers your task, your arguments, and your audience.

Reasons for choosing editing instead of proofreading

  • You think the meaning may not be clear because English is not your native language
  • You want to maximise your grade
  • You have too many words and need them reduced
  • You have tutor/ supervisor comments that you need to work on
  • You are concerned about the flow of your paragraphs and the overall organisation
  • You are resubmitting a dissertation that did not achieve the required grade
  • You are responding to PhD examiners’ or peer reviewer’s requirements

Experienced professional editor

I am a former journal editor. I have successfully edited hundreds of essays, coursework assignments, dissertations, theses, presentations, journal articles, reports, product brochures, case studies, website copy and many more types of documents. Many editing websites act like agencies and you may never know who actually does your work. Mine is a one-to-one service and we will work together to get the best result.

What’s included in the professional editing service?

As well as all the aspects included in proofreading, my editing service includes the following:

  • Restructuring paragraphs and ensuring paragraph flow
  • Reducing the number of words where needed
  • Clarifying meaning and overall argument
  • Style and logic
  • Removing material that is irrelevant
  • Paragraph flow and organisation
  • Paraphrasing and rewriting of short fragments of matching text
  • Final pre-submission proofreading
  • Track changes option used in Microsoft Word so you can see all the improvements made.

How much does it cost?

The standard editing fee is £21.95 per 1000 words. Unlike some other professional editing services, no VAT is added to your fee, the price you are quoted is the price you pay. A premium is added for very urgent jobs.
